Our beautiful 12.75″ gold face Dolkar (White Tara) statue combines three finishes in a single piece: an authentic hand painted gold face, silver plated details, and a deep oxidized copper body. The statue features all of her classic elements — the seven eyes, two lotus flowers rising in silver leafy sprays at her shoulders, and both the Abhaya and Varada mudras — and Dolkar is seated in full lotus pose on a single lotus pedestal with silver-tipped petals.

Our Nepali artisans gave the statue its antiquated finish while working in special silver and gold features: observe her luminous gold painted face — the upright third eye and lips picked out in red beneath blue-black painted hair — and the silver highlighting across the crown, jewelry, flowing scarves, and the finely engraved silver dhoti draped over her legs. The crown and jewels of Dolkar are already embellished with turquoise and red stones, and at the buyer’s request we can add further stones before delivery. Our gold face Dolkar statue will be an inspirational addition to your home or meditation center.

Symbolism of Gold Face Dolkar

The Abhaya, or “protection,” mudra is a classic Buddhist gesture recognized by practitioners of every school. This hand symbol of fearlessness is deeply important in Buddhist belief — when devotees see it, it inspires fortitude and confidence. Our gold face Dolkar statue portrays this mudra with her left hand held chest-high, palm facing forward.

This Dolkar statue also uses the Varada, or “gift giving,” mudra, her right hand resting open over the knee — for Dolkar is deeply affiliated with generosity. Known as Cintachakra, the “wish fulfilling wheel,” White Tara is one of the three long life deities in Tibetan Buddhism — read more about White Tara’s meaning and symbolism. She is also empowered with the attributes of healing, compassion, and serenity.

Dolkar is one of the most beloved depictions of the Bodhisattva Tara. In Tibet, devotees believe she was born from a teardrop that fell from the eye of Avalokiteshvara as he wept over the suffering of beings. Dismayed that so few women had reached full enlightenment, Tara vowed to attain Buddhahood in female form — and to keep appearing in female form until women are fully represented among the ranks of the awakened.
