Samantabhadra Statues | Nyingma Primordial Buddha in Yab-Yum — Handmade in Nepal

Explore our collection of authentic Samantabhadra statues, handcrafted in Patan, Nepal by master Newar artisans using the traditional lost wax sculpting method. Each statue depicts Samantabhadra in yab-yum with his consort Samantabhadri, cast in fine copper alloy and finished with 24K gold fire gilding and hand-painted facial details.

Samantabhadra (Tib: Kuntuzangpo, “All-Good”) is the primordial Buddha of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism — the Adi Buddha who represents the ground of all being, the primordially pure nature of mind that has never been obscured and never requires purification.

Unlike other Buddhas who are depicted adorned with crowns and jewels, Samantabhadra is shown completely naked and unadorned in deep blue — his nakedness signifying the utter absence of conceptual covering, the bare luminosity of awareness itself. He is almost always depicted in yab-yum with his consort Samantabhadri — the union of the two representing the inseparable nature of awareness (rigpa) and emptiness (shunyata) at the very ground of existence. Together they embody the view of Dzogchen — the Great Perfection — the highest teaching of the Nyingma tradition. Each statue ships directly from Kathmandu with a certificate of authenticity issued by Nepal’s Department of Archaeology. Browse the collection below.
