Tibetan Butter Lamps

Tibetan butter lamps have been used for many centuries by the Tibetan monasteries to symbolize the inevitable triumph of knowledge (light) over ignorance (darkness). All of our Tibetan butter lamps have been hand crafted by the artisans of Patan, Nepal. As a result, you can rest assured that the Tibetan butter lamp which you purchased here will be of monastic quality. Traditionally, clarified yak butter has been used as fuel for the butter lamps. However, it is also possible to use substitutes such as vegetable oil or vanaspati ghee. The quality of illumination will be the same and the symbolism will be an inspirational feature of your Buddhist altar.
