The master artisan gave this 9.75″ handmade Chenrezig statue an oxidized copper finish in combination with silver details. The statue features the beautifully contrasted silver plated jewelry and crown of a bodhisattva — the silver crown, ear ornaments, necklaces, and ribbons gleaming against the deep, lustrous copper body. At the request of the buyer, we would be happy to adorn the crown and jewels of this statue with turquoise and red coral stones. At no extra charge, the skilled artisan can embellish the statue with these special decorations before delivery.

The color turquoise is a special combination of blue and green. Indeed, blue signifies the purity of the Buddhas and green symbolizes their readiness to act. Our handmade Chenrezig statue will wear it well and will inspire all those who lay their eyes on the statue.

Handmade Chenrezig Statue Features

Our handmade Chenrezig statue features four arms, and he wears the silver plated Bodhisattva crown and jewels. The four arms of this Chenrezig statue represent the four immeasurables — compassion, loving kindness, equanimity, and joy — read more about Chenrezig’s iconography in Tibetan Buddhism. The antelope skin over his left shoulder, its small silver head resting at his breast, marks his gentle, ascetic compassion.

Chenrezig also holds the 108 mala beads in his upper right hand because he is constantly reciting his mantra to ease the suffering of the world, while a silver lotus blossoms from the stem held between the index finger and thumb of his upper left hand. In Buddhism, the lotus flower is a symbol of enlightenment: as the flower rises out of the murky water to blossom in the fresh air and sunshine, so does a devotee who has passed through the sea of suffering to become enlightened.

Chenrezig sits in the full lotus pose on a single lotus pedestal, its petal tips highlighted in silver between beaded silver rims, with silver ribbons rising at either side. The rich and lustrous oxidized copper mixes beautifully with these fine silver details. Between his pressed hands, clearly visible, rests the cintamani jewel — Chenrezig’s faithful devotees believe it will grant them whatever they wish for. On the reverse, a painted red tie binds his dark topknot, and silver scrollwork bands continue across the back of his shoulder cape.

At 9.75″ and just 3 kg, this silver and copper Chenrezig offers a distinctive alternative to full gold gilding — our buyer’s guide for Buddha statues compares the finishes, or browse every form of the Bodhisattva of Compassion in our Avalokiteshvara statue collection.
