This handcrafted 11-inch White Metal Mandala Set is an authentic Himalayan ritual offering used throughout Vajrayana Buddhism to symbolize the offering of the entire universe to the Buddhas, one’s teachers, and all enlightened beings. Handmade by the master artisans of Patan, Nepal using the same traditional lost wax casting method employed to create fine Himalayan Buddhist statues, this beautiful mandala set combines spiritual significance with exceptional craftsmanship. The elegant white metal finish is complemented by intricate floral engravings across each offering ring, the Vajra Bhumi (base plate), and the finely detailed Dharma Wheel finial. Whether displayed on a Buddhist shrine or used during daily practice, this mandala offering set pairs beautifully with our Buddha statues, Tibetan ritual items, and Tibetan thangkas to create a complete Himalayan altar.

White Metal Mandala Set ‒ Authentic Himalayan Craftsmanship

Each component has been individually cast before being carefully finished by hand. The photographs reveal finely engraved floral scrollwork surrounding every mandala ring, while the decorative Vajra Bhumi features matching floral motifs framed by a traditional Greek key border. The elegant Dharma Wheel finial rises above the completed mandala and is highlighted with detailed openwork, engraved ornamentation, and a central turquoise-colored cabochon that represents awakened wisdom. Every surface displays the subtle hand-finished character expected from authentic Nepalese craftsmanship, making each mandala set unique.

Traditional Mandala Offering Practice

Mandala offerings are among the most important preliminary practices in Vajrayana Buddhism because they cultivate generosity while accumulating merit and wisdom. Traditionally, practitioners first purify the Vajra Bhumi by wiping it clockwise with the forearm before sprinkling a small amount of grain onto the base. The largest ring is placed first and gradually filled while visualizing the four continents. Successive rings are added while visualizing worldly wealth, celestial treasures, the sun, moon, and the entire universe. Finally, the Dharma Wheel finial is placed at the summit, completing the symbolic cosmos. The assembled mandala is respectfully touched to the forehead before being raised above the head while reciting the traditional offering prayer, offering the entire universe to the Three Jewels. After the dedication, the rings are gently dismantled inward, symbolizing the completion of the practice and the dedication of accumulated merit for the benefit of all sentient beings.
