Chenrezig Statue | 13.75″ | Fully 24K Gold Gilded | Handmade Nepal

The master Shakya caste artisan in Patan, Nepal created this beautiful masterpiece 13.75″ four-armed Chenrezig statue, commissioned as a custom order and finished with the crown and jewels of a Bodhisattva. The crown is set with red and turquoise stones, and dark hair falls in twin tresses over the shoulders, gathered at the back into a knot bound with a gold tie beneath a crest of painted red flame ornaments that echo the crown’s finials. A small carved antelope head rests at his left shoulder, the traditional hide marker of Chenrezig’s boundless compassion.

The cintamani “wish fulfilling” jewel is pressed between his two principal hands at the heart. Devotees believe this magic gem can grant their every wish. In his upper right hand he holds the 108 mala beads, constantly reciting his mantra on behalf of all beings — explore the meaning of Om Mani Padme Hum, syllable by syllable. In his upper left hand he holds a full lotus blossom, the source of his name Padmapani, “lotus-bearer.”

Masterpiece Chenrezig Bodhisattva Statue

The artisan created the statue using the traditional lost wax sculpting method, so the buyer can rest assured they have purchased a monastic quality statue that will last many lifetimes, complete with a certificate of authenticity. The 24K gold finish was applied by the fire gilding method and will remain tarnish free indefinitely, its bright, lifelike glow inspiring all who lay eyes on it. The face is hand painted in real gold, and his dhoti is engraved throughout with fine floral scrollwork.

The reverse of the statue is finished with equal care: the gilded shoulder cape is densely engraved and set with a small red coral stone accent at the neckline, while flat celestial scarves fall the full length of his back. A conch shell, one of the eight auspicious symbols, is engraved into the base of his dhoti, and the pedestal beneath him bears a separate engraved crossed double vajra — together marking the statue with symbols of enlightened sound and indestructible spiritual power. Chenrezig sits in the full lotus pose on an oval lotus pedestal with a beaded rim and carved petals, the ends of the ribbons rising in scrolls at either side.
