Commissioned as a bespoke work of sacred Himalayan art, this Masterpiece Chenrezig Statue showcases the highest level of craftsmanship preserved by the Shakya artisans of Patan, Nepal. Every stage of its creation was completed by hand using the traditional lost wax casting method before being meticulously fire gilded in 24K pure gold. Rich turquoise and red coral stones are permanently embedded throughout the Bodhisattva crown, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and ornaments, while the face is hand painted in real gold using centuries-old Newar techniques. The result is a museum-quality sculpture that faithfully embodies Avalokiteshvara, known throughout Tibet as Chenrezig, the Bodhisattva who hears the cries of all sentient beings and responds with limitless compassion.

The sculptor has balanced refined ornamentation with profound spiritual symbolism. Dark blue hair falls gracefully over both shoulders before gathering into an elegant topknot behind the jeweled crown, while flowing celestial scarves frame the figure with gentle movement. A beautifully carved antelope hide rests across Chenrezig’s left shoulder, one of his traditional identifying attributes representing harmlessness and universal compassion. Throughout the dhoti, lotus throne, jewelry, and rear of the statue, intricate floral engravings demonstrate the extraordinary skill of the artisan and elevate this commissioned masterpiece well beyond an ordinary devotional sculpture. Learn more about the symbolism of Avalokiteshvara in our complete guide to Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara) statues.

At the center of the sculpture, Chenrezig’s principal hands join in Anjali Mudra while gently holding the sacred Cintamani, the wish-fulfilling jewel that symbolizes the Bodhisattva’s limitless ability to answer the sincere aspirations of practitioners. His upper right hand gracefully raises the 108-crystal mala beads, representing the continual recitation of the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum for the benefit of every sentient being. His upper left hand supports a fully opened lotus blossom, identifying him as Padmapani, the Lotus Bearer, whose purity remains untouched by the suffering of samsara.

Masterpiece Four-Armed Chenrezig Statue Features

This Masterpiece Chenrezig Statue was handcrafted in Patan, Nepal using the traditional lost wax sculpting method that has been preserved by Newar artisans for over one thousand years. The copper-alloy sculpture was then fire gilded in 24K pure gold, producing a luminous finish that has long been reserved for monastic-quality Buddhist statuary. Because the statue was individually created rather than mass produced, every engraved border, lotus petal, jeweled ornament, and floral motif was completed entirely by hand. Each Golden Buddha statue is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, confirming its origin in Nepal.

The reverse of the sculpture reflects the same extraordinary attention to detail found on the front. Fine floral engraving continues across the shoulder mantle, while a red coral cabochon is set into the necklace resting behind the neck. The flowing celestial scarves descend naturally along the back before terminating beside the lotus throne. Beneath the seated figure, the artisan engraved a conch shell into the rear of the dhoti and placed a beautifully executed crossed double vajra prominently on the lotus pedestal. These auspicious symbols represent the spread of the Buddha’s teachings and the indestructible nature of enlightened wisdom. Even the pedestal is richly engraved around its entire circumference, demonstrating that every viewing angle received equal artistic attention.
