Handmade in Patan, Nepal from copper alloy using the lost-wax casting method, the sculpture measures approximately 11.5 inches without its removable flame mandorla. Extensive surfaces are fire gilded in 24K gold, while the fierce face is separately hand painted with 18K gold and natural pigments. Brilliant red, white, black and blue detailing emphasizes the three eyes, wrathful brows, open mouth and exposed teeth, creating a vivid focal point beneath his distinctive golden domed hat.
The photographs reveal particularly accomplished metalwork throughout the robes.
