Mahakala Panjarnata is also known as the “Lord of the Pavilion” who is the protector of the Shri Hevajra cycle of tantras and the Sakya lineage. Our antiquated Panjarnata Mahakala statue features Mahakala forming the handle of a ritual knife called a phurba. The phurba features three blades, each blade represents one of the spirit worlds. Additionally, the handle symbolizes method and the blade symbolizes wisdom. The tip of the three blades penetrates a human corpse that represents the death of all negativity and delusional states. The Panjarnata Mahakala statue is surrounded by the flames of pristine awareness that consume neurotic mental states.

Furthermore, Panjarnata Mahakala wears a crown adorned with five dried skulls. Symbolically, the five skulls represent the five poisons of desire, hatred, ignorance, jealousy and pride. Tibetan Buddhists believe that the poisons have been transmuted into the five transcendent wisdoms. Indeed, Mahakala practice will encourage virtuous living and remove all negativity. Use the Mahakala mantra “OM SHRI MAHAKALA HUM HUM PHAT SVAHA” to enhance faith and devotion.

Antiquated Panjarnata Mahakala Statue Features
