This 9.5″ Namgyalma statue is fully fire gilded in 24K gold throughout — figure, crown, robes, and lotus throne in a unified bright golden surface, with a gold painted face rendered with fine detail. This is the only fully gilded Namgyalma (Ushnishavijaya) in the Golden Buddha collection; the other presentations use oxidized copper or partly gilded finishes, making this the most formal and visually luminous of the series. The Bodhisattva crown and jewels can be additionally embellished with turquoise or red stones at no extra charge before shipping. The statue was handcrafted in Patan, Nepal by a master Newar artisan using the traditional lost wax sculpting method with fine hand-carved detail throughout. Learn more about the three long life deities in our complete guide.
In Tibetan Buddhist longevity practice, the three long life deities — Namgyalma, White Tara, and Amitayus — are frequently invoked together precisely because each deity addresses a different dimension of what it means for a life to be both long and meaningful. White Tara provides compassionate protection and the general sustaining of life-force, her healing energy maintaining the conditions of health and welfare in which practice can proceed. Amitayus — the longevity form of Amitabha Buddha, whose red body and vase of immortal nectar specifically address the extension of the life span — connects the practitioner’s longevity directly to Amitabha’s infinite life. Namgyalma’s specific contribution to the trio is purification and protection: her practice clears the negative karma and karmic obstructions that would otherwise shorten life or generate unfavorable conditions, and protects specifically from the untimely death that can arise from karmic debts and adverse astrological configurations. Together the three cover the complete field of longevity: sustaining what exists (White Tara), extending the duration of life (Amitayus), and clearing the karmic obstacles that threaten it (Namgyalma).
Namgyalma Statue Features
Namgyalma is depicted with three faces and eight arms as specified in the Tibetan sculptural canon, with the facial features of a 16-year-old — the ageless, ever-renewing form that expresses the inexhaustible quality of enlightened longevity energy. Her attributes: double dorje and rope at the chest; Varada mudra in the third right hand; arrow and small Amitabha Buddha statue affirming her pure land connection; the vessel of longevity in her left lap hand; a bow in another left hand; and the Abhaya mudra of protection in the upper left. A third eye of wisdom appears between her brows and an additional eye in the palm of her right hand — perceiving suffering in all directions simultaneously.
