This magnificent Namgyalma sculpture was handcrafted in Patan, Nepal using the centuries-old lost wax casting method before being completely fire gilded in pure 24K gold. Standing 13.5 inches tall, it is among the largest fully gilded Namgyalma statues in our collection and has been created specifically for serious practitioners, Buddhist temples and collectors of Himalayan sacred art. The mirror-like gold finish beautifully complements the finely painted faces, elaborate Bodhisattva crown and elegant lotus pedestal, while the artisan has preserved every traditional detail according to classical Tibetan Buddhist iconography. Known in Sanskrit as Ushnishavijaya, Namgyalma is one of Tibetan Buddhism’s most important longevity deities. Her name means “Victory of the Ushnisha,” referring to the sacred cranial protuberance that symbolizes the supreme wisdom of every fully enlightened Buddha. She is especially revered throughout Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan and Mongolia for practices that remove obstacles to long life, purify negative karma and generate the conditions necessary for spiritual realization. Together with White Tara and Amitayus, she forms the celebrated trio of Three Long Life Deities whose practices remain central to Tibetan Buddhist longevity rituals.
Namgyalma Sculpture ‒ Three Faces, Eight Arms and Sacred Attributes
This Namgyalma sculpture faithfully depicts the deity with three faces and eight arms, symbolizing her limitless ability to benefit beings throughout every direction of existence. Her central peaceful face embodies compassion and enlightened wisdom, while her additional faces represent the complete range of enlightened activities—from peaceful blessing to the fierce removal of obstacles. A third eye appears upon her forehead and an additional eye adorns her open palm, illustrating her awakened awareness that perceives suffering wherever it arises.
The eight arms of Namgyalma express the many dimensions of her enlightened activity through a carefully arranged group of ritual attributes and mudras. At the center, her primary hands hold the vishvavajra, or double vajra, before her heart, symbolizing the indestructible and unshakable nature of awakened wisdom. Among her remaining right hands, one supports a small image of Amitabha Buddha, connecting her iconography with the Buddha of Infinite Light; another holds an arrow, representing penetrating wisdom directed toward the destruction of ignorance and obscurations; and the downward-facing hand displays Varada Mudra, the gesture of generosity and the granting of blessings.
On her left side, Namgyalma holds a lasso, signifying the binding and subduing of harmful forces and disturbing conditions, while another hand carries a bow, traditionally paired with the arrow as an expression of focused enlightened activity. An uplifted hand displays Abhaya Mudra, the gesture of fearlessness and protection, while the remaining hand holds the longevity vase filled with amrita, the nectar of immortality that directly expresses her association with long life, purification and the overcoming of obstacles to longevity. Together, the eight arms present Namgyalma not simply as a deity of extended lifespan, but as an active embodiment of wisdom, purification, protection and compassionate enlightened activity.

The recitation of Namgyalma’s mantra has been practiced for centuries by Tibetan Buddhists seeking longevity, healing and purification of negative karma. Beyond simply extending lifespan, her practice is understood to create favorable conditions for Dharma study, meditation and compassionate activity by removing obstacles that prematurely interrupt spiritual development.
