Our handcrafted Chenrezig Shakti Statue is an exceptional representation of Avalokiteshvara in sacred union with his consort, beautifully illustrating one of the most profound forms found within Vajrayana Buddhism. Expertly created in Patan, Nepal using the traditional lost-wax casting method, this finely detailed sculpture has been meticulously finished with brilliant 24K gold gilding that accentuates every graceful contour, ornament, and expression. Unlike more familiar depictions of Chenrezig, this rare Yab-Yum form symbolizes the inseparable union of enlightened compassion and transcendent wisdom, making it a deeply meaningful addition to a Buddhist shrine or collection of authentic Himalayan art.
The sculpture demonstrates the remarkable craftsmanship for which Nepal’s Newar artisans have been celebrated for centuries. The highly polished gold surface contrasts beautifully with the rich copper-toned lotus base and decorative scarves, creating a striking visual balance that immediately draws the eye toward the peaceful expressions of both deities.
Rare Chenrezig Shakti Statue Features
In Vajrayana Buddhism, Yab-Yum imagery represents the perfect union of compassion and wisdom rather than worldly attachment. Chenrezig embodies limitless compassion for every sentient being, while his consort symbolizes transcendent wisdom. Together they express the inseparability of these two enlightened qualities, illustrating that complete awakening arises when wisdom and compassion are cultivated together.
One particularly unusual feature of this sculpture is its removable consort, allowing the intricate craftsmanship of both figures to be fully appreciated. This thoughtful design also reveals the exceptional precision with which each figure has been individually cast and finished before being united to form the complete devotional composition.
Chenrezig wears the elaborate crown and jeweled ornaments traditionally associated with enlightened Bodhisattvas, while a finely sculpted image of Amitabha Buddha rises above the ushnisha, symbolizing the close spiritual relationship between the Buddha of Infinite Light and the Bodhisattva of Compassion. At the buyer’s request, our artisans are pleased to embellish the crown and jewelry with genuine turquoise and red coral stones before shipment as a complimentary service.
The principal hands are joined reverently before the heart, embracing the precious Cintamani wish-fulfilling jewel, while the remaining hands carry the crystal mala and blossoming lotus. The mala reflects Chenrezig’s continual recitation of Om Mani Padme Hum, while the lotus flower reminds practitioners that genuine compassion remains pure and unstained regardless of the challenges encountered throughout life.
The beautifully sculpted lotus pedestal displays deeply carved petals highlighted by a warm copper patina that contrasts elegantly with the brilliant gold gilding above. Decorative lotus scrolls frame the composition, while the harmonious proportions, delicately painted facial features, and graceful flowing scarves demonstrate the extraordinary attention to detail invested by Nepal’s master craftsmen. Every element contributes to a sculpture that is equally suited for serious Buddhist practice and discerning collectors of Himalayan sacred art.
