This 9″ set of 21 Tara statues is the largest altar commission in the Golden Buddha Tara collection — 21 individually cast figures finished in oxidized copper alloy with selective 24K gold gilding on the faces, crowns, jewelry, hands, and lotus throne details. The resulting two-tone finish — warm dark copper body contrasted against brilliant gold — is the traditional antique style widely used in Newar sacred art, giving each figure a gravitas and visual depth that differs from the fully gilded sets. Each figure stands 9″ tall and is cast using the traditional lost wax method by Shakya caste artisans in Patan, Nepal, following the precise iconometric requirements of each of the 21 Tara forms. At a shipping weight of 45kg, this is a monastery-grade altar commission of considerable scale. Upon request, the crown and jewels of each figure can be adorned with turquoise and red coral stones before shipping at no additional charge.
The 21 Taras are the complete set of emanations of Tara — the 21 distinct forms in which her enlightened compassionate activity manifests across the full spectrum of what practitioners need: swift protection, longevity, purification, the removal of obstacles, the magnetizing of prosperity, the fierce subjugation of harmful forces, and the peaceful granting of wishes and fearlessness. The source of the 21 Taras is the Homage to the Twenty-One Taras — one of the most widely recited prayers in the entire Tibetan Buddhist tradition, chanted daily in monasteries across Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, and Mongolia. Each of the 21 Taras is a variation of one of four colors — white, yellow, red, and dark — corresponding to the four types of enlightened activity: pacification, increasing, magnetizing, and wrathful.
