Our handcrafted 14.5-inch 1000 Armed Avalokiteshvara statue, also known as Thousand-Armed Chenrezig, is an extraordinary masterpiece of traditional Himalayan Buddhist art created by skilled artisans in Patan, Nepal. Avalokiteshvara, revered throughout Tibetan Buddhism as the Bodhisattva of Infinite Compassion, manifests in this remarkable form with eleven heads and one thousand arms to symbolize his limitless ability to perceive and relieve the suffering of all sentient beings. Created using the centuries-old lost-wax casting method and finished with traditional 24K gold gilding, this museum-quality sculpture beautifully reflects the extraordinary craftsmanship for which Nepalese artisans are renowned.

This magnificent Thousand-Armed Chenrezig statue is ideal for Buddhist practitioners, meditation spaces, temples, monasteries, and collectors seeking an authentic representation of one of Tibetan Buddhism’s most beloved Bodhisattvas. Every detail has been carefully hand finished to preserve both the artistic beauty and profound spiritual symbolism of this sacred deity.

Masterpiece 1000 Armed Avalokiteshvara Statue Features

This exceptional statue depicts Avalokiteshvara with eleven compassionate heads and one thousand symbolic arms. According to Tibetan Buddhist tradition, Chenrezig vowed not to attain complete Buddhahood until every sentient being was liberated from suffering. Overwhelmed by the enormity of this compassionate vow, his body shattered into countless pieces before Amitabha Buddha compassionately restored him with eleven heads to hear the cries of suffering from every direction and one thousand arms so he could extend assistance wherever it was needed.

Each of the eleven heads has been individually sculpted and hand painted with remarkable attention to detail. The highest head depicts Amitabha Buddha, Chenrezig’s spiritual teacher, while the wrathful face beneath depicts Vajrapani which symbolizes compassionate power overcoming ignorance and obstacles. Behind the deity, an elegant fan of countless hands radiates outward, representing the Bodhisattva’s limitless compassionate activity throughout the universe.

The principal hands are joined respectfully at the heart in Anjali Mudra, expressing reverence and universal compassion. The remaining hands hold traditional sacred implements including the lotus flower and mala beads, while the numerous outstretched hands symbolize Avalokiteshvara’s readiness to respond to the prayers and needs of every sentient being. The elaborate aureole and finely detailed throne further enhance the visual majesty of this remarkable Himalayan sculpture.

The rear of the statue features a removable consecration chamber door, allowing qualified Buddhist lamas or practitioners to place traditional sacred filling materials, mantras, relics, and blessings within the statue before it is sealed. Consecration transforms a beautiful work of sacred art into a devotional support for Buddhist practice. Learn more about this traditional process in our guide to Buddhist Statue Consecration.
