There is a noble history behind our oxidized copper Yellow Dzambhala statue. According to the sutras, Dzambhala came to the aid of Shakyamuni Buddha when he was disrupted with the temptations of Mara (the serpent). He appeared before the Buddha to offer his protection. The Buddha was grateful for his assistance and he asked if Dzambhala would like to be a Dharma protector. Dzambhala accepted the Buddha’s offer and he is now the protector of impoverished sentient beings.

Our Yellow Dzambhala statue is one of the 5 Jambhalas. Yellow Dzambhala is the most popular and he is believed to be an emanation of the Buddha Ratnasambhava. Therefore, he is a lord of equanimity and he wishes to equally distribute wealth in order to alleviate the suffering beings who suffer from extreme poverty. He comes to the aid of those who recite his name or the Yellow Dzambhala mantra:

“Om Jambhala Jalendraye Svaha”

Due to his generous nature he is also known as the “god of wealth”. However, his aim is a noble one. The war against poverty is to relieve the suffering and enable sentient beings to become more receptive to the Dharma teachings. Indeed, those who lack basic resources will find their spiritual realization impeded. Click here to learn more about the Dzambhalas.

Yellow Dzambhala Statue Features

Our Yellow Dzambhala statue is seated on a snow lion holding the victory banner. Additionally, Dzambhala holds the mongoose in his left hand. The name of the mongoose is Nehulay and he is always spewing forth precious jewels. Nehulay is also symbolic of Dzambhala’s subjugation of the naga serpents.

This Yellow Dzambhala statue features the third eye of wisdom on his forehead. Those who possess insight wisdom have the ability to see into a divine world. However, this special vision is only accessible to enlightened beings. To enable this type of insight one must acquire wisdom through practicing the precepts and realizing the Dharma path.

Additionally, Dzambhala is seen adorned with the crown and jewels of the Bodhisattva. Due to his association with Ratnasambhava he is affiliated with the jewel family and he endeavors to destroy greed and conceit.
