Her left hand holds the stems of the utpala lotus flowers gently between thumb and index finger, the blossoms rising over each shoulder — the lotus as symbol of enlightened awareness emerging above the conditions of samsara, always available, always present, the way Tara herself is always available and present to those who call upon her.
