This 9.5-inch Beautiful Green Tara Sculpture combines brilliant 24K gold fire gilding with genuine turquoise and red coral gemstone inlays, creating an exceptionally ornate interpretation of one of Tibetan Buddhism’s most revered female Bodhisattvas. Handmade in Patan, Nepal from copper alloy by a master Shakya artisan, the sculpture was created using the traditional lost-wax casting method and subsequently finished, engraved and embellished by hand. Tara’s face is delicately hand painted with 18K gold and natural pigments, complementing the deep blue hair and colorful stones embedded throughout her elaborate crown, earrings, necklaces, arm ornaments and waist jewelry.

Meaning of the Beautiful Green Tara Sculpture

The Beautiful Green Tara Sculpture represents enlightened compassion expressed through immediate action. Rather than remaining withdrawn in meditation, Green Tara is traditionally understood as responding swiftly to suffering, fear and obstacles. Her posture combines meditative stability with readiness to act, making her an important devotional figure for practitioners seeking protection, courage and compassionate activity. Tara is especially associated with liberation from the Eight Great Fears, which Buddhist teachings interpret both as worldly dangers and as inner afflictions that impede awakening. Explore the meaning and spiritual qualities of Green Tara in our complete guide.

Beautiful Green Tara Sculpture Iconography

Tara sits gracefully in lalitasana, the royal-ease posture, with her left leg folded inward and her right leg extending forward upon a small lotus support. Her lowered right hand displays Varada mudra, the gesture of generosity and the bestowing of blessings. Particularly distinctive is the vajra motif engraved into her open right palm, adding another layer of Vajrayana symbolism to the composition. Her raised left hand holds a lotus stem beside her shoulder, while two flowering utpala stems rise symmetrically around her upper body. Gemstones, Engraving and Double Lotus Throne

The remarkable craftsmanship becomes especially apparent upon close examination. Genuine turquoise and red coral provide vivid accents throughout Tara’s crown and Bodhisattva jewelry, standing prominently against the luminous gold surface. Her dhoti is extensively engraved with scrolling and floral ornamentation across the legs and around the rear of the figure. Long celestial scarves curve around her arms and lotus stems, giving the sculpture an elegant sense of movement while framing the body without obscuring its proportions.

Below Tara is an unusually substantial double lotus throne. Two beautifully modeled tiers of lotus petals create a deep architectural foundation, while beaded borders separate the different levels. The broad lower plinth is further enriched with hand-engraved scrolling ornamentation extending around the base. These details make the sculpture visually impressive from both front and rear and demonstrate the considerable finishing work performed after the original copper-alloy casting.

Beautiful Green Tara Sculpture with Amitabha Buddha

This sculpture can form a meaningful altar pairing with our gold gilded Amitabha Buddha statue. Amitabha presides over the Padma, or Lotus, Buddha family and represents infinite light and discriminating wisdom. Green Tara is closely connected with the compassionate activity of this spiritual family through Avalokiteshvara, the great Bodhisattva of Compassion and principal attendant of Amitabha. Their visual qualities are complementary as well: Amitabha’s meditative composure provides a still central presence, while Tara’s extended leg and open hand communicate compassionate activity and readiness to respond.

Custom Made Tara and Amitabha Statues

Collectors, practitioners, monasteries and Dharma centers may also commission custom made Tibetan Buddhist statues directly from our artisans in Nepal. Green Tara and Amitabha are particularly suitable for a coordinated commission because their contrasting iconography expresses complementary spiritual qualities. Amitabha’s meditative posture and Dhyana mudra embody contemplation, wisdom and Pure Land aspiration, while Tara’s Varada mudra, lotus flowers and extended right leg embody generosity and swift compassionate action. A matching pair can be commissioned with coordinated dimensions, lotus pedestals, 24K fire gilding, engraving and gemstone ornamentation while preserving the traditional iconographic attributes unique to each deity.
