Our master artisans based in Patan, Nepal, created this high luster gold gilded Shakyamuni Buddha statue wearing the hand carved crown and jewels of a Bodhisattva — the King of the Dharma presentation, honoring the Buddha as sovereign of the teaching he discovered. Where our antiquated crowned Shakyamuni glows with a mellowed, rose-toned warmth, this statue is finished in brilliant fire gilded 24K gold at full luster — every surface of the crown, jewelry, and robe gleaming with mirror-bright radiance, the traditional finish of the great monastery shrine statues at their most resplendent. At the request of the buyer, we would be happy to adorn the crown and jewels with turquoise or red coral stones — at no extra charge, we can embellish the statue with these special decorations before delivery.
The color turquoise is a special combination of blue and green — blue signifies the purity of the Buddhas, and green symbolizes their readiness to act. Devotees meditating on the color red can transform the poison of attachment into the wisdom of discernment. This Shakyamuni statue will wear the adornments very well and inspire all who lay eyes on it.
Nepali Shakyamuni Buddha Statue Features
Our Nepali Shakyamuni Buddha statue is depicted sitting in the full lotus pose, also known as the vajra pose. Vajra translates as diamond or lightning bolt, symbolizing the unwavering concentration and intense effort necessary to progress on the Buddhist path.
The statue is also depicted using the Bhumisparsha mudra, his right hand draped over the right knee — the gesture with which the Buddha calls the goddess of the earth to witness his supreme victory over the provocations and temptations of the demon Mara. Explore the symbolism of the Bhumisparsha mudra and other Shakyamuni Buddha hand gestures in our complete guide to Shakyamuni statues.
In his left hand, Shakyamuni holds the small alms bowl, filled with the nectar of spiritual nourishment — the bowl is deeply significant because it symbolizes the overcoming of attachment and the Buddha’s renunciant life, recalling his triumph over greed, hatred, and ignorance at the moment of awakening.
