Our Shakya artisans created this beautiful 9″ oxidized copper Amitayus statue with the full Bodhisattva crown and jewels, rendered entirely in a deep, antiquated copper patina that gives the piece the presence of a centuries-old monastery statue. The tall crown rises to a central spire capped with a lotus-bud finial, framed by curling ribbons beside the ears and floral rosette earrings, while a layered necklace set — a short jeweled collar over two longer beaded strands — drapes across the chest. At the request of the buyer, we would be happy to adorn the crown and jewels of the statue with turquoise or red stones — at no extra charge, our skilled artisans can embellish the statue with these decorations before delivery, where the color contrast against the dark copper is especially striking.

In Tibetan Buddhism, Amitayus is renowned for his longevity attribute, and Amitayus statues are used to perform longevity rituals in the hopes of prolonging life. As part of the ritual, a replica of Amitayus’s ambrosia vase is filled with wine, which is then consecrated and given to devotees who partake of it. Special long-life pills, symbolically recreated from buttered dough, are consumed with the wine. Oxidized Amitayus Statue Features

Our Amitayus statue sits in full lotus position depicting the Dhyana Mudra, the meditation gesture, with the ambrosia vessel resting on his upturned palms in his lap, filled with the nectar of immortality and crowned with an ornamental sprouting plume. Ribboned scarves loop around both elbows and flow downward into angular swirls that come to rest on the base beside his knees, while the fabric of his dhoti is finely engraved with scrollwork across the legs. Amitayus sits on a single lotus pedestal ringed with bold petals, finished with a beaded rim above and a band of delicate engraving at the foot. The entire statue features an antiquated finish achieved through controlled oxidation of the copper alloy surface.
