Seven Eyed Tara Statue Features
The Abhaya mudra is known as the protection mudra. Indeed, this is a classic mudra used by many Buddhas and bodhisattvas. The mudra is meant to inspire a sense of fearlessness and confidence in devotees. Seven Eyed Tara is depicting it with her left hand held chest high and palm facing forward.
Our Seven Eyed Tara statue is also using the Varada or “gift giving” mudra. Indeed, Seven Eyed Tara is very generous and she is also known as the Cintachakra or “wish fulfilling wheel”. Additionally, she has the attributes of long life, healing, compassion and serenity.
Seven Eyed Tara is one of the most popular embodiments of the bodhisattva Tara. The origins of Tara lie in the compassion of Avalokiteshvara. In fact, it is believed that she was born from a teardrop that fell from his eye. Tara refused reincarnation as a male because she feels that there are not enough fully fledged female Buddhas.
