Our 24K gold gilded 12″ Shakyamuni Buddha statue is a depiction of the original Buddha. The most prominent feature of the statue is the classic Bhumisparsha mudra. This depiction is displayed with the Buddha seated in full lotus pose and the right hand gently draped over his right knee. Additionally, the palm is flat and facing inwards and the fingers are lightly touching the ground.

The Buddha depicted this mudra because he was calling the earth goddess to witness his vanquishment of the demon Mara. As a result of overcoming the final temptation, he was able to achieve enlightenment. Additionally, after he became the first enlightened being of our time, he taught the Dharma to sentient beings.

Golden Shakyamuni Buddha Statue Features:

In his left hand he is holding the alms bowl in the flat of his palm and simultaneously displaying the Dhyana mudra. The alms bowl is believed to hold the cure for the three poisons of desire, hatred and delusion. Insight wisdom is acquired through meditation, this is why the Dhyana mudra is also known as the meditation mudra. Explore the symbolism of the Bhumisparsha mudra and other Shakyamuni Buddha hand gestures in our complete guide to Shakyamuni statues.

Other traditional elements of this golden Shakyamuni Buddha statue include the ushnisha topknot, the elongated ears, third eye of wisdom and right turning hair coils. The statue also features elaborate face painting and intricate carvings on his robe.
