Our beautiful Dolkar statue statue was sculpted using the traditional lost wax method in Patan, Nepal. As a result, it was completely hand crafted in intricate detail, including hand face painting. The most prominent features are her 7 eyes which imbues all her thoughts and actions with perfected wisdom. There are two eyes on her face, an eye on each palm of her hand and soles of her feet. Additionally, the third eye of wisdom is located on her forehead between the brows. The eyes are all delicately hand painted.
The Nepali artisan created the statue with the crown and jewels of a bodhisattva. At the request of the buyer, we will gladly adorn the crown and jewels with turquoise and red coral stones. The colors will enliven the statue and it will inspire all who see it. Additionally, the 24K gold finish was applied using the fire gilding method which gives our beautiful Dolkar statue a lifelike golden luster.
Beautiful Dolkar Statue Symbols
Dolkar sits in double lotus pose on a single lotus pedestal. Additionally, she is depicting the Abhaya mudra (protection/fearlessness) with her left hand held at chest height. Her right hand is draped over her right knee and it is depicting the Varada mudra (boon granting).
Furthermore, in each hand she is also holding the stem of a lotus flower between her thumb and index finger. Each lotus then grows up her arms and reaches over her shoulders. This is because the blossoming flowers are a symbolic representation of the rewards that await in enlightenment. Click here to learn more about the Tara bodhisattva.
