Gold Plated Medicine Buddha Features:
This sculpture is expressing the classic mudras of a Medicine Buddha sculpture. In his right hand, he gently holds the stem of a sacred myrobalan plant between his index finger and thumb. This sacred plant is a metaphor for the cure of all suffering. Additionally, the right hand also expresses the Varada “boon granting” mudra, signifying the Buddha gave the gift of medicine to sentient life.
Furthermore, Medicine Buddha has the back of his left hand gently resting on his lap expressing the meditation mudra. In the palm of his hand rests the offering bowl filled with the 3 nectars. These 3 precious nectars are the cure for the three poisons of desire, hatred and ignorance. Click here to learn more about Medicine Buddha.
