Our set of eight silver plated offering bowls was hand crafted by the highly skilled craftsmen in Patan, Nepal. As a result, it is of the same high quality standards that would be found in the Tibetan monasteries. Indeed, the Nepali craftsmen have been creating their Buddhist ritual items for many generations. As a result, we can offer you a monastic quality set of eight offering bowls at a very reasonable price.
Traditionally, there are seven offering substances: water for drinking, water for bathing, flowers, incense, light, perfume, and food. However, eight bowls of pure water is often substituted for the seven substances. It is also believed that the water is visualized as pure nectar by the Buddhas. Symbolically, water is plentiful in Tibet, so devotees are encouraged to be generous with their possessions just as they would give away water.
Please use this set of eight silver plated offering bowls to enhance your Buddhist practice and generosity. Leave the symbolic offerings out on your Buddhist altar every morning, then remove them at night. If done properly with dedication, the use of your offering bowls will be received delightfully by the Buddhas.
