Large Shakyamuni Buddha Statue Poses and Mudras
The most prominent feature of the big Buddha statue is the classic Bhumisparsha mudra. This classic mudra is displayed with the palm flat and facing inwards, additionally the middle finger is lightly touching the ground. The Buddha is calling the earth goddess to witness his vanquishment of the demon Mara. As a result of overcoming the final temptation, the demon was defeated and he became the Buddha of our time.
